Mobile Phones/Devices

Mobile Phones and Devices:

At Willowfield we are dedicated to maintaining a focused, distraction-free environment where all pupils can learn and socialise safely. Our school is a mobile phone-free zone during the school day.

Mobile phones and headphones must be switched off and stored out of sight in school bags before passing through the school gates in the morning.

Mobile phones and headphones must remain off and in bags at all times until pupils leave the premises at the end of the school day. This includes all lessons, transitions, break times, and lunchtimes.

Smartwatches may be worn but must not be used to check notifications or send messages at any point.

To ensure this policy is maintained, we operate a strict confiscation system:

Seen or Heard: If a mobile phone, headphones or a smart watch being used inappropriately, is seen or heard at any point during the school day, it/they will be confiscated immediately by a member of staff.

Parental Collection: Confiscated devices will not be returned directly to the pupil. A parent or carer must come to the school reception to collect the item in line with our policy.

Emergency Contact

Contacting Your Child: We understand that parents may need to reach their children in an urgent situation. In an emergency, please call the main school office directly. Pupils are also permitted to use the school office phone if they need to contact home urgently.

Exceptions
Where a pupil requires access to a device as part of a medical need, disability, EHCP, or other exceptional circumstance, appropriate arrangements will be agreed with the school on an individual basis.
