Homework at Willowfield School
At Willowfield, homework is an important part of school life. It enables pupils to acquire new and exciting knowledge, consolidate learning, and practise exam skills, particularly in Years 10 and 11.
You will find three useful documents on this section of the school website:
- Homework Schedule – this tells you when homework will be set for both Key Stage 3 and 4
- Homework FAQ document – this answers many of the questions you may have as a parent/carer about homework
- Edulink guide – this will help you navigate the online platform we use to record homework set
Homework expectations
Pupils are responsible for:
- completing all homework to the best of their ability;
- submitting all homework on time and meeting deadlines;
- discussing any problems with homework with the subject teacher and/or their form tutor before the deadline;
- attending in-school opportunities to complete homework if this would benefit them;
- making improvements to homework in light of feedback or assessment.
Parents and carers are responsible for:
- taking an interest in their child’s homework and discussing what needs to be done;
- checking their child’s EduLink account to confirm what homework has been set;
- ensuring, where possible, that their child has a quiet place to complete homework independently;
- encouraging their child to keep trying, be resilient, and use different strategies to resolve problems when they get stuck with homework;
- not doing their child’s homework for them, or allowing another adult or sibling to do it;
- supporting their child in completing homework by the deadlines;
- supporting teachers when homework deadlines are persistently not met, by discussing concerns with their child and attending meetings.
